Gut bacteria can cause life-threatening infections in preterm babies

Babies born prematurely may suffer late-onset sepsis — life-threatening bloodstream infections. The causes have not been clear. But now, researchers at the School of Medicine led by Phillip I. Tarr, MD, and Barbara B. Warner, MD, have discovered that preterm babies’ guts harbor infectious microbes that can cause this condition.

University hires Title IX coordinator

​To promote and strengthen a culture that proactively supports a safe and respectful learning, working and living environment, WUSTL has appointed Jessica W. Kennedy, JD, to the new role of Title IX coordinator, according to Lorraine Goffe-Rush, vice chancellor for human resources, and Sharon Stahl, vice chancellor for students.
